Saving Our Kids, Healing Our Planet (SOKHOP)
is at the forefront of a new movement focused on sustainable living practices and safe and effective methods for preventing and recovering our children from ADHD, Autism,
Allergies, Asthma, Obesity, Diabetes etc. It is a forum where parents, teachers, therapists and physicians gather and learn from leading experts about safe and effective
methods for preventing and treating many of the chronic conditions affecting our children today. Why in the midst of an abundance of research substantiating the use of
nutrients, the role toxins play in these conditions and the importance of dietary changes to prevent and treat various conditions , does the pharmaceutical approach remain
the most common (and sometimes the only) treatment option parents are given? Pharmaceuticals alone are not the solution to the growing health and behavioral conditions
affecting our children. SOKHOP offers a chance to hear leaders in the fields of pediatrics, nutrition and the environment discuss real solutions for these growing problems.
Take a look at these statistics:
- 1 in 150 children are being diagnosed with autism. In New Jersey it is 1 in 94.
- The CDC tells us that 1 in 6 children in the US have either a behavioral, neurological, or development condition
- Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in children
- Asthma has more than doubled since 1980 and is the leading chronic disease among American children
- 1 in 6 children are considered overweight
- 1 in 400-500 children have diabetes
Although startling, these numbers are real. What is the solution? As Albert Einstein said “We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created
them.” As concerned parents, teachers and health care professionals it is time to listen and learn from some of the brightest thinkers of our time as they discuss new safer
and more effective options for our kids.
Saving Our Kids, Healing Our Planet is the brainchild of a pediatric nurse (Maureen McDonnell, RN) who has been coordinating children’s health oriented conferences with some
of the country’s leading physicians and researchers and treating children’s health and behavioral problems using nutritional methods for 30 years. Jill Urwick is a mom who
has recovered two of her children, one from ADHD and one from autism using natural interventions. Given their knowledge, passion and experience, these two women are joining
a growing number of parents and health care professionals to forge a new approach to prevent and reverse many childhood illnesses and disorders. Instead of just treating the
symptoms, the experts at SOKHOP address and teach how to treat the underlying causes.
